Online Learning Options at Penn College Offer Enhanced Flexibility
Wednesday, April 12, 2017
Pennsylvania College of Technology is renowned for its “degrees that work,” and for those needing additional flexibility to attain a degree from the college, online options abound.
Online learning at Penn College offers more choices to students who are balancing work and family responsibilities. The offerings feature the same academic rigor and accreditation as on-campus programs, but there is no requirement to ever attend class on the campus in Williamsport. Online students may choose to enroll full time or part time.
Students enrolled in online programs at Penn College have one-on-one interaction with faculty and may avail themselves of campus resources such as counseling, career services, disability services, academic advising and library services. Online students also have access to free online tutoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through the college's learning management system. Graduates may participate in commencement ceremonies if they desire.
A national leader in applied technology education, Penn College offers eight degree programs that can be completed online: applied health studies, applied management, automotive technology management, business administration: management concentration, dental hygiene: health policy and administration, emergency management technology, health information management, and nursing.
Many of Penn College's online offerings are designed as bachelor-degree completion programs – a great option for transfer students, as well as Penn College students who have completed an associate degree and intend to work while continuing their studies.
Students who earn an approved associate degree and meet all admission requirements can enroll in applied health studies, applied management, automotive technology management, dental hygiene, health information management or nursing to complete their bachelor's degree in two more years of full-time study. Some programs can be completed in less than two years.
The business administration: management concentration and emergency management technology programs do not require transfer credit; the entire curriculum required for them is offered online.
Starting this fall, students enrolled in online programs at Penn College – regardless of where they reside in the world – will all pay the in-state tuition rate.
“Finding new ways to expand the reach of our academic programs is an ongoing goal for us,” said Carolyn R. Strickland, vice president for enrollment management/associate provost. “It is our hope that we will increase students’ access to a Penn College degree from anywhere in the world through this initiative.”
Questions about the online degrees offered by Penn College, a special mission affiliate of Penn State, may be directed to the Admissions Office or 570-327-4761.
