Monday, November 21, 2016
Members of the Penn College Shotokan Karate Club tested their skills in a belt promotion on Saturday in the college's Field House. Along with students from Bucknell University, Lycoming College and Nittany Shotokan, the Penn College contingent showed the skills they’ve been developing for the past several months. Earning yellow belts were Timothy L. Pegg and Leo J. Ravina. Kody R. Dibble, Destiny R. Barto and Jason S. Murphy all came away with orange belt rank. John B. Preine made purple belt. Alton “A.J.” Hinson moved another step through the purple belt rank and will test for his brown belt in the spring semester. Brown belt Carlos A. Ramos-Sonera moved another step closer toward testing for his black belt. The club will host the East Coast Collegiate Karate Union training camp and tournament in February.
