Penn College's military family will be represented at the Williamsport Civic Chorus' 73rd-season kickoff: a concert in Klump Academic Center Auditorium at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. Members of the Omega Delta Sigma veterans fraternity will help out with crowd and traffic control and the Bison Battalion – the ROTC program comprising students from Penn College, Lycoming College and other institutions – will serve as color guard. Taking place on Veterans Day weekend, the chorus’ “Salute to Veterans” will feature patriotic songs from many eras, with selections ranging from “In Flanders’ Fields,” a soul-stirring World War I-era ballad, to the moving “God Bless the U.S.A.,” the 1984 hit by country star Lee Greenwood. The chorus will present the same concert in Clinton County at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in Central Mountain High School. Area veterans of the armed forces are invited to attend the concerts free of charge. Tickets for non-veterans are available at Otto Bookstore, 107 W. Fourth St., and at Robert M. Sides Family Music Center, 201 Mulberry St.; or at the door on the day of the show. A small reception will follow the Sunday performance.
