The effects of alcohol consumption on motorists' mobility and reaction time were made abundantly clear (and, thankfully, in the injury-free safety of a controlled environment) during the Golf Cart Beer Run on the Thompson Professional Development Center lawn. Students took turns driving a golf cart, donated by the White Deer Golf Course, through a circuitous obstacle course while wearing vision-impairing “drunk goggles.” The annual exercise, to be conducted again from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, is part of Drug & Alcohol Awareness Week featuring College Health Services, Penn College Police, Counseling Services and others. Other events will help students learn how to drink safely and smartly, how to get help when they need it, and what resources are available for them on campus and in the community.
