‘My Last Words’ Lecture to Offer Insight, Inspiration on Sept. 27
Monday, September 19, 2016
Tina M. Evans, an associate professor of applied health studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will present this year’s David London My Last Words lecture.
Penn College’s My Last Words Lecture Series challenges each year’s selected faculty member to offer thoughts to the community as if they know it was their last opportunity to share insight and offer inspiration. Speakers are nominated by students and alumni.
Evans’ talk is titled “12 Words That Will Change Your Life.” The lecture is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Penn’s Inn, on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. It is free and open to the community.
Evans has taught at Penn College since 2005. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Marywood University with a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine. She holds a master’s degree in health care administration from King’s College, where she graduated with highest honors and received a Distinguished Service Award from the city of Wilkes-Barre for her volunteerism. She received a doctorate in health promotion from Marywood University, graduating as class valedictorian in 2004.
She remains active in grant writing, publishing scholarly works and presenting on allied-health topics both locally and internationally. She is also active in volunteer activities in her church and community.
Begun in February 2006, the college’s My Last Words Lecture Series was renamed during 2008-09 in honor of David A. London, an associate professor of speech communication/composition who died in May 2008. London joined the Penn College faculty in 1990. He was a popular teacher, a former chair of College Council and a strong proponent of the college’s Internal Governance system.
A plaque presentation and reception will follow Evans’ lecture.
