“This new kiln is an important part of the Penn College forestry program, and it will enhance the education of future students,” he said. “This forestry program plays an important role in providing our industry with qualified students every year.”

The new kiln will accommodate both wet-bulb and dry-bulb temperature readings, giving students the opportunity to learn how to follow a kiln schedule, understand kiln charts, apply methods and procedures, and learn what is required of a professional in the kiln-dried products industry.

“We are grateful for the support the Pennsylvania Forest Products Association has provided to this project to help provide forestry students with state-of-the art technology,” said Elizabeth A. Biddle, the college’s director of corporate relations.
