Pennsylvania College of Technology spring sports teams went 3-2 last week, but the real winner was Mother Nature, which forced postponement of nine scheduled events.
Baseball
In a Wednesday home doubleheader sweep of Summit University by identical 13-1 scores, the Wildcats pounded out 25 hits and limited the visitors to just six. In the first game, Taylor Vandergrift, of Quakertown, who had a triple, and Cole Weachock, of Pottsville, who had a double, each drove in three runs. Weachock and Noah Esposito, of Williamsport, both had three hits in the win. In the second game, Ed Suri, of East Hanover, New Jersey, drove in three runs and Vandergrift again tripled while pitcher Aaron Palmer, of Hanover, improved to 3-0 and the team to 8-11.
Games scheduled for Thursday and Saturday were postponed.
Softball
The Lady Wildcats started the week on April 3 with a pair of postponements as snow covered the field at SUNY Cobleskill. It ended the same way with postponements against Morrisville State on Saturday.
Hosting Misericordia University on Tuesday, Penn College lost by scores of 10-0 and 9-0. The Wildcats were limited to four hits in the first game and five in the second as they dropped to 5-6 overall.
Golf
In its lone match of the week, Penn College topped crosstown rival Lycoming College, 350-364, in action on Tuesday at the Williamsport Country Club. Wildcat Ned Baumbach, of Elizabethtown, medaled with an 82 and Justin Greedey, of Selinsgrove, was third with an 87.
