Penn College THON Chapter Turns Out for Heartfelt Cause
Thursday, February 25, 2016
Penn College Benefiting THON contributed $6,858.84 of the $9,770,332.32 overall total raised throughout the year for the annual fight against pediatric cancer. As part of America's largest student-run philanthropy, the campus organization held a number of events to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund. Culminating the "For the Kids" campaign is an iconic 46-hour dance marathon at Penn State, and a number of Penn College representatives were on hand again this year for the phenomenal finale. "My favorite part about THON is the final four hours," said Max C. Bower, a heavy construction equipment: operator emphasis major from Lewisberry and president of the Penn College THON chapter. "It has always amazed me when 15,000-plus students can come together to support such a great cause. Every year, everyone in the Bryce Jordan Center sings 'Angels Among Us' by Alabama, and, each time I hear it, I get goosebumps from the joy that it brings ... yet the sadness that it represents." Joining him (and those pictured) were students Brieona R. Broadwater, of Berlin; Courtney K. Brown, of Hanover; Calah D. Doyka, of Mercersburg; Ian E. Gardepe, of Hawley; Kelsey J. Maneval, of McAlisterville; Stephanie C. Myers, of Catawissa; Lillian L. Pakradooni, of Reading; and Brianna M. Young, of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
