The Penn College community, which has been deeply affected by a startling number of lives lost in the past two years, held two "Yell(ow) It Out" events to raise suicide awareness and spread a message of hope. Yellow ribbons were sold to benefit Aevidium, a suicide-prevention organization whose name translates as "I got your back," and employees and students were encouraged to wear ribbons and other yellow clothing to Friday's men's and women's basketball doubleheader in Bardo Gym, co-sponsored by Student Affairs and the Student Nurses' Association. In addition to support of Wildcat teams and distribution of educational materials, the evening included a visual display by veteran students and faculty. The group showed the power of 22, gathering on the court to represent the number of veterans' lives lost to suicide every day. If you or someone you know is considering hurting themselves, please call Counseling Services at 570-327-4765 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
