Pennsylvania College of Technology has named Heather A. Swimley as registrar.
Swimley, who began her duties in January, had served as assistant registrar at the college since July 2014.
She succeeds longtime registrar Denny L. Dunkleberger, who will retire in March. Dunkleberger will serve as acting director of admissions until his retirement takes effect March 30.
Before coming to Penn College, Swimley served in two administrative roles at Lock Haven University: assistant registrar (2011-14) and assistant director of admissions/transfer coordinator (2007-11).
She holds a Master of Science in leadership from Lubbock Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Lock Haven University. She is a member of the American Association for College Registrars and Admissions Officers.
“Heather brings a solid knowledge base and wide range of experience on Registrar Office functions that have prepared her well for this position,” said Carolyn R. Strickland, vice president for enrollment management/associate provost. “We are confident in her abilities and excited to welcome her into this leadership position at Penn College.”
As registrar, Swimley is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of functions relating to current student scheduling, the master schedule, external transcript evaluation, graduation requirements, curriculum implementation and the graduation audit.
She is also responsible for maintaining the privacy of complete and accurate educational records of all students in compliance with state and federal regulations. The registrar must also promote a positive customer-service philosophy in support of the college’s enrollment management goals.
Swimley’s community activities include involvement with children’s ministries, the music program and women’s ministries at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. She is a certified Lay Servant in the United Methodist Church.
