Penn College’s Winter Commencement Set for Dec. 19

A commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, for the nearly 260 Pennsylvania College of Technology students who have petitioned to graduate after the Fall 2015 semester.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

The student speaker will be Jay Michael Rhoads Jr., of South Williamsport, who will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in automotive restoration technology. Rhoads, a Dean’s List student, is also being presented with the President’s Award for leadership and service to the college.



The Community Arts Center will once again provide a magnificent setting for Penn College commencement when the Winter 2015 edition is held Dec. 19.Rhoads, who also holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Lock Haven University, is a member of the Penn College Classic Cruisers student organization and has been instrumental in the completion of various vehicle-restoration projects for the college that have been honored in prestigious car shows. He serves in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour will be joined by state Sen. Gene Yaw, who also serves as chairman of the Penn College Board of Directors, as she confers degrees and certificates upon the graduates. She will also present an Alumni Citizenship/Humanitarian Award.
