The Health Sciences Living-Learning Community participated in a hike on Williamsport Water Authority land just 4 miles from Penn College over the past weekend. Alexandra D. Petrizzi, a peer mentor for the LLC, and three faculty from the School of Health Sciences took students on the outdoor adventure, which passed the previous sites of the Remington homestead and the Mosquito Valley School. Students had opportunities to enjoy the fall foliage and challenges such as balance, climbing and maneuvering through pipes. The hike was followed by a picnic at which students could relax and enjoy a fire, hot chocolate and good eats. The Health Science LLC has been able to offer members a minimum of two activities per month. Others this semester include game night, movie night, T-shirt making, bowling and a trip to New York City. Penn College has six LLCs – each centered around an academic theme – designed to engage students in similar majors with beneficial, outside-the-classroom pursuits organized by faculty, staff and mentors.
