The brothers of Penn College's Mu Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Delta fraternity returned to campus this semester as members of an organization nationally recognized for excellence. On Saturday, June 6, at Phi Mu Delta’s Sapphire Leadership Institute in Medford, New Jersey, brothers of Phi Mu Delta presented for the Clarence Dexter Pierce Chapter of the Year Award. Representing the fraternity were: John D. Wuest, a recent graduate in engineering design technology; Steven J. Kanaley, enrolled in building science and sustainable design: architectural technology concentration; and Samuel R. Scheide, an alumnus of the college's plastics and polymer engineering technology major. "We are very proud of our chapter despite not winning Chapter of the Year," said Anthony D. Gobbi, of Haymarket, Virginia, chapter president and a building automation technology: heating, ventilation and air conditioning concentration major. "We know what we need to focus on for the future in order to present again and win!" Mu Xi was honored as a "Chapter of Excellence" during the four-day event in Medford, New Jersey. More than 70 undergraduate members attended, gaining a better knowledge of Phi Mu Delta, their personal leadership style and methods to better their chapter experience. "It was an honor to be able to see the gentlemen present for 'Chapter of the Year' at the Sapphire Leadership Institute,” said Allison A. Bressler, assistant director of student activities for programming and Greek life. "They had some tough competition, and I know they will be back in the running next year!"
