Real Estate Courses to Prepare Participants for Licensing Exam

Two real estate courses, comprising 60 hours of instruction over 10 weeks, will be offered this fall by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology.



Upon successful completion of both courses – Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice – participants will be eligible to take the state licensing exam. The courses are:

Real Estate Fundamentals
5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (Sept. 15 to Oct. 15)
This course introduces the fundamentals of real estate and prepares prospective real estate professionals to take the Pennsylvania Real Estate Licensing Exam. Basic terminology and techniques will be introduced. Topics include Real Property and the Law, Land‐Use Controls and Property Development, Environmental Issues in Real Estate, Legal Descriptions, Interests in Real Estate, Leasehold Estates, Forms of Real Estate Ownership, Real Estate Taxes and Liens, Transfer of Title, Title Records, Principles of Real Estate Contracts, Principles of Real Estate Financing, and Pennsylvania Real Estate Licensing Law.

Real Estate Practice
5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (Oct. 20 to Nov. 19)
The second half of the series introduces students to all facets of the real estate industry, with emphasis on the role of the real estate agent in a residential brokerage. Topics include The Real Estate Business, Real Estate Brokerage, Agency in Real Estate, Ethical Practices and Fair Housing, Listing Agreements and Buyer Representation Contracts, Sales Contracts, Financing the Real Estate Transaction, Appraising Real Estate, Closing the Real Estate Transaction, and Property Management.

The total cost is $634 for tuition and a textbook that will be used for both courses.
