Penn College to Hold Three Commencement Ceremonies May 15-16

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold three commencement ceremonies May 15-16 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport for more than 900 students who are expected to graduate following the Spring 2015 semester.
On Friday, May 15, at 3 p.m., a ceremony will be held for graduates from the School of Business & Hospitality and the School of Construction & Design Technologies.
A ceremony for graduates from the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies and the School of Transportation & Natural Resources Technologies is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m.
On Saturday, May 16, at 1:30 p.m., a ceremony will be held for graduates from the School of Health Sciences and the School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications.
The student speaker for the May 15 ceremony will be Matthew John Glodowski, of Hainesport, New Jersey, who will be awarded a bachelor’s degree in building science and sustainable design: architectural technology concentration.
Glodowski serves as president (and is a former vice president) of the U.S. Green Building Council of Penn College and is a Certified LEED Green Associate through USGBC. He is a former president and vice president of the Architecture Student Association. He also serves as a student at large on the Student Affairs Committee for the Internal Governance System. Glodowski will be employed as an assistant project manager at JPC Group Inc., Philadelphia.
The student speaker for the 10 a.m. ceremony on May 16 will be Andrew Stephen Manley, of Cogan Station, who will receive two bachelor’s degrees – information technology sciences: gaming and simulation, and software development and information management.
Manley is the recipient of the Mathematics Faculty Award, presented to a graduate who demonstrates outstanding achievement in mathematics; the Information Technology Faculty Award, presented for scholastic achievement, work ethic, character, contribution to the department and contribution to fellow students; and the Dean Solomon Memorial Award, presented to a graduate who demonstrates a desire for a profession in mathematics and/or computer science who demonstrates good character, an affable personality, and concern for fellow human beings, and who has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Manley is a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society and the Association of Professional Programmers. He also served as a math tutor and served on the ITS Committee for the Student Government Association. He was a School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies mentor as part of a National Science Foundation grant.
Serving as student speaker for the 1:30 p.m. ceremony on May 16 will be Bethany M. Reppert, of Minersville, who will receive a bachelor’s degree in applied human services. She will also be awarded the President’s Award for leadership and service to the college.
Reppert serves as president of Students Making a Contribution at Penn College and is a co-founder and vice president of College Women of Williamsport. She is a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society and the PCAlliance student organization. She has been a Dean’s List student every semester of her enrollment.
During the commencement ceremonies, the college will present Distinguished Teaching Awards to faculty and several honors to alumni: the Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award and Humanitarian and Mentorship awards.
Degrees will be conferred by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour, assisted by two members of the Penn College Board of Directors: John M. Young (May 15) and Steven P. Johnson (May 16).
