Children’s Learning Center Director Presents at National Conference

The director of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s early childhood education center recently presented a session at the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers’ Annual Conference and Professional Institute.
Barbara J. Albert, director of the Dunham Children’s Learning Center at Penn College, addressed the topic “Orientation of Student Teachers and Student Employees.”
The conference was held March 18-21 in Chicago. The National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers is a nonprofit educational membership organization supporting excellence in programs for young children in communities of higher learning by providing opportunities for leadership, professional development, research, networking and advocacy.
Albert holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bucknell University and a master’s degree in human development and family studies from Penn State.
She is a member of the Keystone STARS Advisory Committee, treasurer of the Central Susquehanna Association for the Education of Young Children, and a certified Pennsylvania Quality Assurance System Instructor, providing professional development and technical assistance to others in the field.
Children’s Learning Center staff members Jennifer N. Bay, assistant group leader, and Joyce B. Shrimp, group leader, also attended the conference.
The Children’s Learning Center at Penn College cares for children between the ages of 13 months and 5 years. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Middle States Commission on Elementary Education. It is a Star 4 facility, the highest recognition level available through Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS program.
