Kendel F. Baier, of Jersey Shore, a senior in the building science and sustainable design: architectural technology concentration, has been chosen as the December/January Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Exemplifying both academics and athletics, Baier maintains a full course load and is a national bowhunter champion on the Penn College archery team.

Among her accomplishments, she was selected as the college’s 2014 Female Athlete of the Year.

Kendel F. Baier“She is a goal-oriented student whose attitude is driven toward service rather than self,” her nominator wrote. “Her abilities to lead – along with her integrity, dependability, trustworthiness, ‘spirit of citizenship’ and ethics – make her an example for all Penn College students.”

Set to graduate in May, Baier has been a well-respected employee of The College Store for more than three years and often trains new and temporary employees on customer service and front-end job duties.

“She holds much pride in Penn College and transmits a true ‘Wildcat spirit’ with all of her interactions, both on and off campus, when she represents the college in athletic events and other activities,” the nominator added. “She is often called upon to demonstrate her archery skills to campus visitors and during campuswide events such as Open House.”

Student Government Association recognition is bestowed numerous times each academic year based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement.
