College Appoints Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Pennsylvania College of Technology has named Debra M. Miller as vice president for institutional advancement.
Miller, who had served as director of corporate relations at Penn College since 2004, succeeds Barry R. Stiger, who retired in December. She has 40 years’ experience working with senior administration and governing boards, including 28 years in higher education.
In her new role, Miller is responsible for advancing the mission of Penn College by overseeing alumni relations, annual giving, corporate relations and the Penn College Foundation. She also serves as a member of President’s Council.
“Debbie has served the college with distinction as director of corporate relations for the past decade,” said Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour. “With her wealth of professional experience and wonderful interpersonal style, I look forward to the contributions she will make in leading the college’s advancement team.”
Before coming to Penn College, Miller was employed by the Williamsport-Lycoming Foundation (now First Community Foundation Partnership) as manager of program and scholarship services.
She also worked for Bucknell University as assistant to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Miller was executive secretary to the president of Williamsport Area Community College (Penn College’s immediate forerunner) from 1984-88. Prior to that, she served in administrative roles for Piper Aircraft Corp.
Miller attended Williamsport Area Community College for business administration and holds a certificate in fundraising management from the Center for Philanthropy at Indiana University. She is a graduate of Leadership Lycoming.
Her community involvement includes: Board of Directors for Family Promise of Lycoming County; Leadership Lycoming, board chair from 2011-12 and committee member from 2005-14; the YWCA of Northcentral PA, board trustee from 2007 to present and a Board of Directors member from 2002-07; the Lycoming County United Way Funds Distribution Committee, 2002-12; the Williamsport-Lycoming Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, 2002-04; the Children’s Task Force, Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition, 2002-04; and North Central Sight Services Young Adult Support Group, 1997-2000.
