Anthony D. Gobbi, of Haymarket, Virginia, a junior in the building automation technology: heating, ventilation and air conditioning concentration, has been chosen as October's Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
"He is very good at getting people involved and excited about Penn College," his nominator noted. "Anthony has a natural talent for leading people and making them feel included in whatever he is doing."
For Gobbi, "whatever he is doing" crisscrosses a lot of territory: He is a Presidential Student Ambassador, a director of the Blue Crew, social chairman of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity, and a participant in the Penn College Lacrosse Club and intramural athletics.
"(He) deserves this award for all of his hard work and dedication to Blue Crew, which is becoming one of the most well-known student groups on campus," the student nominator added. "It would not be where it is without him. He has put in countless hours getting people to show up at sporting events, along with leading the fan section in cheers."
Gobbi also attracted praise for his service as an ambassador due to "his optimism, extensive knowledge and his unique social skills," and for encouraging campus involvement among his colleagues in the Greek Life community.
"I know how much he loves this college and he has a vision of exploiting the potential (it) has to offer," his nominator said. "He also pushes me to be a better person like no one has ever done before. I learn so much from him every time I'm around him, and I am extremely grateful to have him in my life."
Student Government Association recognition is bestowed numerous times each academic year based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Nominations from faculty/staff and other students are strongly encouraged.
