The diverse “degrees that work” offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a national leader in applied technology education, will be on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college’s Open House on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Held amid a yearlong Centennial celebration at the college, Open House gives prospective students and their families a convenient opportunity to sample campus life and to explore bachelor’s, associate and certificate programs – “degrees that work” – in more than 100 different career areas.
“Open House is where you can find out what Penn College is all about,” said Dennis L. Correll, associate dean for admissions and financial aid. “State-of-the-art labs, classrooms, dining facilities and residence halls distinguish Penn College as the place where you can earn a degree and stand apart from other graduates. When you visit, you’ll know it’s the right place to launch your career.”
In addition, members of the public interested in visiting a century-old anchor of the community are invited to a Centennial Community Event from 2 to 4 p.m.
Guests can follow the award-winning History Trail, a self-guided stroll across campus that spotlights the college’s responsive growth over the past 100 years. There will also be organized tours, including labs and student housing, and three new Centennial art installations will offer eye-catching proof of the college’s transformation.
Registration is not required for Centennial Community Event guests, who will be directed to the Field House for “check-in” starting at 1:30 p.m. They can join Open House visitors at a number of campus locations, including The College Store, Madigan Library and The Gallery at Penn College.
Faculty and deans will be available in instructional areas; representatives of the Admissions Office, Athletics, Health Services and Alumni Relations will be among the helpful employees on hand campuswide to answer questions.
Prospective students and their families should visit the Open House website for a registration form, a personalized guide, a list of campus activities, travel directions, a campus map and a list of lodging in the Williamsport area. The website also has a “Community Visitor” component that will list activities for the general public.
At Penn College, a special mission affiliate of Penn State, students learn in hands-on fashion from faculty with industry experience, using the latest equipment and technologies.
The college earned Top 10 status among public schools in the listing for Regional Colleges North in “Best Colleges 2015,” issued by U.S. News & World Report. Penn College was also named a “Military Friendly School” for the sixth consecutive year for its commitment to veterans.
Free transportation will be available on main campus, as well as to nearby campuses hosting additional majors: the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood and the Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville.
Apply for admission during Open House, and the $50 application fee will be waived.
