Sandra L. Richmond has been appointed director of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
As director, Richmond, who has been a full-time faculty member at Penn College since 2012, will oversee the college’s five nursing majors.
“Sandy Richmond brings an impressive combination of clinical, educational and administrative experiences to the leadership of the Nursing Program,” said Paul L. Starkey, vice president for academic affairs and provost. “She is passionate about her profession and respected by her peers.”
Prior to joining the Penn College faculty, Richmond, of Hillsgrove, was a Certified School Nurse for 12 years in the Sullivan County School District. In 2007, she was named School Nurse of the Year for the northcentral region by the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners.
She has additional experience as a Certified School Nurse for the South Williamsport Area School District, as a Registered Nurse for Valley View Nursing Center and Susquehanna Health, and as an adjunct clinical faculty member for Duquesne University and online nursing faculty member for University of Phoenix.
She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duquesne University, a Master of Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lycoming College, as well as an associate degree in specialized business – business administration from Williamsport School of Commerce. She is a 1985 graduate of Sullivan County High School.
“From practicing school and community health nurse and educator to newly minted administrator, Dr. Richmond brings with her a diverse set of pragmatic administrative and clinical experiences that should serve her well in steering our growing nursing-education program and preparing our future nurses to meet the challenges of a changing health environment,” said Edward A. Henninger, dean of health sciences.
Richmond replaces Sharon G. Auker, who retired.
