Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering the first of four modules in its Team Leader/Supervisor Program beginning Sept. 11.
The research-based, instructor-led program is anchored around 32 competencies identified in industry clusters across the commonwealth, and is appropriate for current or prospective first-line supervisors and team leaders.
Developing Self (the first module) will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on four successive Thursdays: Sept. 11, 18 and 25, and Oct. 2. The cost is $595.
Participants will explore the roles, responsibilities, expectations and competencies of effective leaders; determine their own leadership style and how it can positively influence their team; examine what causes the communication process to be effective or ineffective; and identify communication methods that will create an engaged workforce and support problem-solving and decision-making.
The instructor, Dan Manetta, brings more than 25 years of professional experience from leadership positions in manufacturing, banking and the military. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Penn State and a master’s degree in business education from Bloomsburg University.
His leadership training has been successful in a wide range of organizations and has been recognized for excellence.
He is also a published author, keynote speaker and former U.S. Army captain, with experience in strategic planning, organizational development, green and lean manufacturing, process-mapping, total quality management, ISO 9000, Six Sigma, procurement, and entrepreneurship.
Participants may choose to continue their training with the remaining three modules that are offered during the fall, spring and summer. The program, which may be customized for groups, is designed to allow participants the flexibility of taking the modules in any sequence.
