Elizabeth A. Biddle, K-12 project manager at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was appointed as a consultant to the National Association for Partnerships in Equity Education. She will serve in the role of program manager.
NAPE is a consortium of state agencies and affiliates that have joined forces to address issues of access, equity and diversity in secondary and community college education, training and careers. NAPE and its Education Foundation share a mission and vision to build educators’ capacity to implement effective solutions for increasing student access, educational equity and workforce diversity.
Biddle, a member of the college’s Outreach for K-12 Office staff, has been contracted to serve as a consultant to deliver the organization’s Program Improvement Process for Equity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum through the National Science Foundation-sponsored program, the STEM Equity Pipeline. This initiative helps educational institutions – from middle schools through community colleges – to examine the performance of underrepresented groups in their programs and develop institutional solutions to improve participation, retention and completion of students in STEM.
As part of her work, Biddle has assisted with STEM Equity Pipeline initiatives in Utah and Louisiana, professional development conferences in Louisiana and Chester County, Pennsylvania, and various equity-focused projects in Ohio.
Penn College’s work with NAPE’s PIPE STEM initiative is funded by a $36,120 from the National Science Foundation through NAPE.
