For those looking to sharpen their computer skills while learning something new, Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering several new, easy-to-learn computer courses.
New offerings this fall include:
Pinterest
Monday, Sept. 15, 6 to 9 p.m. Learn to use this free online social networking program to collect ideas for different projects and interests, in the form of pictures. Topics include setting up an account, creating and managing pinboards, and how to use Pinterest with a phone, website or blog.
Lightroom
Thursdays, Sept. 18 to Oct. 2, 6 to 9 p.m. Lightroom is a photo-editing and file-management program developed by Adobe – by photographers, for photographers. The software program is used to assist with managing large quantities of digital images, especially images taken in the “camera raw” format, and for postproduction work. Participants will explore combining photo management and editing in one interface, along with multiple options for final presentation.
Excel Macros
Tuesday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to noon Designed for Excel Power Users. Learn to create simple-step macros and perform minor edits to VBA code in order to perform basic commands that cannot be recorded.
WordPress.com: Beginner’s Guide to Creating a Website or Blog
Section 1: Wednesdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Section 2: Thursday, Nov. 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Learn to create stunning websites in classes designed for those new to WordPress. Topics include using WordPress as a free web host, creating a site and customizing web design without needing to be a programmer.
