Two Aviation Students Awarded International Helicopter Scholarships

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students were among only eight selected internationally to receive a Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technology Scholarship from Helicopter Association International's Technical Committee.
Andrew L. Stamey, of Danville, and Marc T. Kaylor, of Lebanon, seniors in the college's four-year aviation maintenance technology major, were recently awarded scholarships that provide a tuition waiver for manufacturing training schools and a stipend to offset expenses.
Stamey, the first-place winner, will attend an Airbus Helicopters factory school (a $10,000 value). Kaylor, who earned fifth-place honors, will attend an MD Helicopters factory school (valued at $8,000).
In February, Stamey and Kaylor attended the HAI Heli-Expo in Anaheim, Calif., along with seniors Justin E. Eberhart, of Akron; Steven S. Mellott, of State College; and Max K. Wundschock, of Perkasie, accompanied by William F. Stepp III, associate professor of aviation.
Stamey and Kaylor join eight other Penn College students honored by HAI in the past 10 years, including 2013 awardees Mellott and Wundschock. The total of those students’ scholarships exceeds $70,000.
