Penn College Student Sets Sights on Weekend's ARCA Race in Daytona

Pennsylvania College of Technology student Scott D. Hubler won’t be in class this week ... but he has a good excuse. Hubler, of Coplay, is in Florida preparing for his first ARCA Racing Series event at the famed Daytona International Speedway.
Hubler is scheduled to drive the No. 7 car in the Lucas Oil 200 on Saturday. The 80-lap race will air live nationwide on the cable network FOX Sports 1 at 4 p.m.
ARCA drivers race in previously used NASCAR cars. Several drivers have used their ARCA experience as a springboard to NASCAR careers. As Hubler tells The (Allentown) Morning Call in a story published Monday, he hopes to join that list. His goal is to become a “Sunday Star” in NASCAR.
A building automation technology major, Hubler received an associate degree in electromechanical maintenance technology last year and is scheduled to earn a second associate degree, in electrical technology, this May.
Hubler began racing at the age of 5 in the Quarter Midget Series. He hopes a strong showing in Daytona on Saturday will attract sponsors and facilitate driving in the two ARCA races scheduled for Pocono Raceway in Long Pond this summer.
