Practical Nursing Graduation Held at Penn College North Campus

Fifteen students graduated recently from the Pennsylvania College of Technology North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program.
A ceremony was held at the Wellsboro Area School District Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 19.
The students selected two of their classmates as speakers for the ceremony: Jerry E. Cochenour, of Wellsboro, and Amanda E. Catherman, of Westfield.
The Lyle Goodreau Award for professionalism and excellence in the nursing clinical area was presented to Valerie L. Livermore, of Trout Run, by Janie Hilfiger, president of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro.
The North Campus Academic Award for outstanding achievement in the classroom was presented to Patricia J. Shay, of Columbia Cross Roads, by Natalie O. DeLeonardis, coordinator of the North Campus Outreach Practical Nursing Program.
The Perfect Attendance Award was presented to Brittany J. Carl, of Osceola, by DeLeonardis.
DeLeonardis recognized Brandy L. Reed, of Osceola, as well as Cochenour and Shay for their excellent leadership and service to the nursing class.
Certificates in practical nursing were presented by DeLeonardis; Debra A. Day, instructional specialist, presented the pins to the students.

Richards and Christina Stephens, of Wellsboro; Nikki L. Cunningham, of Tioga; Samantha D. Henry, of Morris; Kimberly M. Hulanick, of Blossburg; Jenna L. Bellows Lamont, of Canton; Valerie L. Livermore, of Trout Run; Breonna M. Shaefer, of Elkland; Patricia J. Shay, of Columbia Cross Roads; and Danielle J. Tracy, of Knoxville.
Graduates completed 1,504 clock hours of classroom and clinical instruction, with clinical experiences obtained at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, The Green Home, Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center, and other local facilities.
They are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses and may be employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, hospice, schools and other health care organizations.
Practical nursing classes at the North Campus begin the first week in January each year. The program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
