Three Alumni Couples Vying for ‘Sweethearts’ Honor

Friday, January 10, 2014

The annual Alumni Sweethearts Contest, conducted by the Alumni Relations Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology, features a new twist this year with the winning couple being selected via a poll.

The stories of three couples were selected from a pool of entries by the Alumni Relations Office and are featured on the college’s website, with voting offered on the Alumni Relations Facebook page through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19.

The couples, all of whom met during their studies at the college, are: Christopher J. and Joann (Phillips) Birster, of Locustdale; Joshua A. and Aurora D. (DiRocco) Bonner, of Tunkhannock; and Philip R. and Casey L. (Wortman) Pratt, of Kunkletown.

The Birsters graduated in 1995 with degrees in architectural technology. The Bonners graduated in 2003 with degrees in advertising art. Philip Pratt earned degrees in diesel technology in 2000 and computer-aided drafting technology in 2004. Casey Pratt graduated in 2004 with a degree in baking and pastry arts.

More information on the couples and the contest can be viewed on the Alumni Relations website.

The winning couple will receive dinner in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant on the Penn College campus on Saturday, Feb. 15, as well as an overnight stay in the college’s Victorian House and breakfast Sunday morning.

This is the third year the Alumni Relations Office has held its Alumni Sweethearts Contest. In the two previous years, office staff selected the winning couples.
