Bethany M. Reppert, an applied human services major from Pottsville, has been chosen as the Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Reppert is a member and secretary of the Students Making a Contribution organization, a student mentor and a part-time employee at the college's Madigan Library.
“Bethany meets all the criteria for Student of the Month. Besides her activities listed above, she serves as a role model for human services students by example, has a strong commitment to her academics and also service to others," her nominator wrote. "During her summer internship, she put together a free self-defense workshop for women, partnering with a local agency, which included safety tips and a demonstration of self-defense techniques."
"Based on her ethical and professional conduct in and out of the classroom," the faculty member added, "she was invited to serve as a mentor to other human services students."
Reppert is the Student Government Association's final selection of the Fall 2013 semester. Recognition – bestowed numerous times each academic year based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement – will resume in early 2014. Nominations from faculty/staff and other students are strongly encouraged.
