Noncredit Productivity Workshop to Be Offered at Penn College

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

A productivity workshop titled “Getting ‘Stuff’ Done” will be offered this month by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The class will explore productivity methods used in “Getting Things Done,” written by veteran coach and management consultant David Allen. The methods are deemed successful because they stand by the principle, “We don’t let work define us. We define our work.”

In the book, Allen shares breakthrough strategies for stress-free performance. Participants will be introduced to key elements from the book, including: application of the “do it, delegate it, defer it” rule; planning projects (as well as getting them unstuck); overcoming feelings of confusion, anxiety and being overwhelmed; and feeling fine about what you’re not doing.

Instructor Kathryn Ecker is an experienced corporate trainer/organizational-development specialist who has worked in the profit, nonprofit, health services and marketing sectors. Her expertise includes values identification, leadership/team assessments, collaboration, meeting management, conflict management, behavioral interviewing, performance management, ladder of inference and orientation/onboarding development.

The class will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Center for Business & Workforce Development on the college’s main campus in Williamsport. The cost is $149 and includes the book.
