A Pennsylvania College of Technology plastics student is the lone nationwide recipient of a scholarship from the Blow Molding Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Bryan T. Robinson, Gilbertsville, a junior enrolled in the college’s plastics and polymer engineering technology bachelor-degree major, received the 2013 Carrie Fox Solin Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a student who has completed two years of a four-year undergraduate plastics engineering program, possesses a strong record of academic and extracurricular achievements, and is a member of an SPE student chapter.

Bryan T. Robinson“The plastics and polymer engineering technology faculty are very proud of Bryan for winning the scholarship,” said Timothy E. Weston, associate professor of plastics and polymer technology and department head. “The scholarship is extremely competitive and very prestigious. Winning it says a lot about Bryan. It’s also a real honor for the Penn College plastics department.”

Robinson is the third Penn College student to receive an SPE Blow Molding Division scholarship. His $6,000 scholarship will be distributed in two equal installments during the next two years.

A dean’s list student, Robinson is president of the Penn College SPE student chapter. He has completed three internships in the plastics industry and has attended several plastics conferences. He also serves the Penn College community as a resident assistant. Robinson is scheduled to graduate in May 2015.

SPE is an organization dedicated to promoting the scientific and educational aspects of the plastics engineering profession. The Blow Molding Division provides a forum for the promotion and dissemination of information relating to blow molding technology.
