Penn College Appoints Director of Transfer Initiatives

Carol A. Lugg has been named director of the Office of Transfer Initiatives at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Previously, Lugg was coordinator of matriculation and retention in the School of Natural Resources Management at Penn College. She has worked in higher education for more than 15 years, holding positions in student affairs, academic affairs and athletics.

“Carol Lugg is an excellent choice to head our Transfer Initiatives office,” said Paul L. Starkey, vice president for academic affairs/provost. “She is an experienced educator who understands our programs extraordinarily well. Carol’s skills are well-suited to the task of building stronger relationships with institutions and prospective students. We are pleased to have her take on this important challenge.”



Carol A. LuggAs part of Academic Affairs at Penn College, the Office of Transfer Initiatives focuses on transfer-student issues including articulations, credit equivalency, transfer-student life, and marketing and recruiting.

In her new post, Lugg will work with academic schools and departments and their respective faculty and staff, as well as the Marketing Committee, the Admissions Office, the Registrar and other offices on campus that interact with and promote transfer students at the college. She will also foster relationships with faculty and staff counterparts at two-year institutions in Pennsylvania and surrounding states, with an emphasis on articulations in majors that align academically with Penn College.

Lugg is pursuing a Doctorate of Education in administration and leadership studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a 2014 completion date. She holds a Master of Science in physical education/administration track from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind., and a Bachelor of Science in Education in psychology/health and physical education from Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio.
