Wildcats Buterbaugh, Hebert Receive Conference Scholar-Athlete Honors

Junior baseball player Cody E. Buterbaugh (Conestoga) and sophomore volleyball player Kelly R. Hebert (Wellsboro) were named the Male and Female John S. Egli Scholar-Athlete Award-winners by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
The award, announced at the conference’s end-of-the-year awards banquet in State College, is given to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrate excellence on the playing field and in the classroom. Buterbaugh and Hebert, both starters on their respective squads, carried 4.0 GPAs and were standouts during their season.
Cody E. Buterbaugh
Buterbaugh, a building automation technology major, has been a three-year starter for Penn College baseball. This past season, he helped the team finish second at the PSUAC Championships and was named First-Team, All-Conference, hitting .367 and ranking in the top ten in the conference in almost every single offensive category.
He served as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee vice president during the past academic year and has been elected as president for 2013-14. In addition, he serves as a Resident Assistant and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
Kelly R. Hebert
Hebert, an applied health studies: radiography concentration major, has been a two-year starter for Penn College women’s volleyball. She started every match on the court this season, leading the conference in blocks and helping the Lady Wildcats to a co-championship.
Her skills earned her a spot on the PSUAC All-Conference Second Team.
She has been a member of the SAAC for two years and was elected treasurer for the 2013-14 year. In addition, she was a member of the NCAA research committee and the Residence Life Living-Learning Community.
