Penn College's Katie L. Kratzer, of Selinsgrove, has been named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Softball Newcomer of the Year for her efforts as a rookie in the 2013 season. She was also named First-Team, All-Conference. Both awards are voted on by the coaches of the PSUAC and are based on performance throughout the season. Kratzer – a first-year student in the School of Health Sciences' pre-radiography major – hit .404 playing in all 30 games and leading the Lady Wildcats with 17 RBIs. She totaled 12 extra-base hits, including two triples and a home run; had 12 multi-hit games; and notched a career-high four hits against Penn State Scranton.
