Horticulture Students Spend Beautiful Wednesday Amid 'Greenery' of Kennett Square

Fourteen members of Penn College's Horticulture Club, along with faculty adviser Carl J. Bower Jr., made a Wednesday visit to Longwood Gardens and a private residential site belonging to landscape architect Margot Taylor, both in Kennett Square.  The Taylor property is the first residential site in Pennsylvania on the Sustainable Sites Initiative, a program designed to provide voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction and maintenance practices. While at Longwood, students learned about the facility's history and its many internship opportunities. On a great day to tour the gardens, they also got a behind-the-scenes look at the production greenhouses.
