The Wildcats opened the week on fire, scoring 26 runs in 15-0 (in five innings) and 11-2 wins over Penn State York on Tuesday. In the first game, Travis Hendershot, of Muncy, and Craig Watson, of McEwensville, each had two-run doubles. Hendershot finished with three runs batted in and Watson with four. In the second game, Zachary Yetter, of Thompsontown, was tough on the mound as he held Allegheny scoreless through seven innings. In the eighth, however, a Penn College error and Allegheny single resulted in the first conference loss of the season for the Wildcats.

Penn College had everything under control Saturday at Penn State Fayette as it won by scores of 21-8 and 14-1 behind the pitching of Santangelo and Matthew Demilio, of Greensburg, who recorded the victories. In the first game, Cody Buterbaugh went 4 for 5 at the plate with four runs batted in; Hendershot had four hits, including two home runs; and Zach Weil, of Kutztown, drilled a three-run homer. Longsderff had a two-run homer in the second game.

Playing at arch-rival Penn State Beaver on Sunday, the Wildcats took both games by scores of 6-4 and 7-4 to improve to 12-7 overall. In the first game, Penn College took advantage of a Beaver error in the seventh inning to score two runs, breaking a 4-4 tie, and notch the win. James Simasek, of Landenberg, and Weil each had two hits during the contest. In the nightcap, Hendershot was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Cody Buterbaugh was 3 for 5.

During the week it was announced that Longsderff was been named the PSUAC Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 31.  In his only appearance of the week, Longsderff threw a complete-game shutout against Penn State Mont Alto.

In action at Penn State Beaver on Sunday, Penn College split, losing 4-1 and winning 3-2. In the loss, Kratzer had one of the Wildcats' two hits, a double. In the win, Kratzer went 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles as the team's record went to 5-15 overall and 3-5 in the PSUAC.

NCAA DIVISION III UPDATE
In other news during the week, it was announced that Penn College has been approved for exploratory membership in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The college's one-year NCAA Division III exploratory status officially begins Sept. 1 and will last throughout the 2013-14 academic year. Exploratory membership provides institutions with an opportunity to learn more about the NCAA and Division III, which comprises more than 170,000 student-athletes at nearly 450 colleges and universities nationwide.
