'Happy Hour' to Offer Burgers (With Side Order of Vital Advice)
Monday, March 4, 2013
Pennsylvania College of Technology's annual "Happy Hour," which encourages students to make sound decisions during and after Spring Break, will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Penn's Inn.
With "Cheeseburgers in Paradise” as its theme, this year's event will again provide information about alcohol, safe sex, highway safety, safe sun exposure and other considerations for students traveling over break. Counseling Services, the Student Activities Office, College Health Services, the School of Hospitality and Dining Services are the evening's cosponsors.
The event will feature the traditional nonalcoholic “mix-off” competition involving students from beverage management classes instructed by Chef Paul E. Mach, assistant professor of hospitality management/culinary arts; Neal Palmer, maître d’hôtel at Le Jejune Chef Restaurant; and Alfredo F. Daniele, of Franco’s Lounge and a part-time School of Hospitality faculty member.
The student-prepared drinks will be judged on taste, appearance and originality. Attendees will get to sample mix-off beverages and plenty of cheeseburgers, hors d'oeuvres and dessert will be available.
“I’ve been a part of the program for over 10 years, and the students keep creating great tasting drinks that surprise me," counselor Michael S. DiPalma said. "The food provided by Dining Services is equally creative, awesome and plentiful. And Counseling Services and Student Activities do their best to put on a good show for the campus community.”
