Pennsylvania College of Technology's 2012 Penn State University Athletic Conference fall championship teams were recognized during halftime of Sunday's women's basketball game at Bardo Gym.
Men's Cross-Country
The Wildcat cross-country team captured its 10th straight conference championship, eighth in the PSUAC. During the season, the team dominated conference invitationals, taking first place at all three. Daniel Flynn, Daniel Starr and Daniel Blauvelt finished in the top 10 at the championships and were named to the PSUAC All-Conference team.
Head coach Mike Paulhamus was named Coach of the Year for the 12th straight year. The Wildcats traveled to Lake Placid, N.Y., for the national tournament, finishing 12th out of 17 schools in attendance.
Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team took its third straight (and eighth overall) PSUAC championship. The Wildcats defeated Penn State Hazleton, 3-0, earning a berth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in Asheville, N.C. The team went undefeated in the PSUAC and posted a 15-4-1 record on the season.
Head coach Enrique Castillo was named Coach of the Year, while Chris Brennan, the team's leading scorer, was named Player of the Year. In addition, Brennan, Phil Bair and Ben Shade were named to the PSUAC All-Conference team and earned nods as USCAA All-Americans.
Tennis
The tennis team claimed its fourth conference championship in five years, edging out Penn State Brandywine, 69-67, at the two-day tournament.
Adam Smith, Jordan Rodgers and Christopher Morrin all collected individual singles titles, while Rodgers and Morrin teamed to capture a doubles championship.
In the end-of-the-year awards, Smith, Rodgers, Morrin and Nathan Scott all earned spots on the All-Conference team, and Robert Kemrer was named Coach of the Year. The Wildcats finished the season 7-1.
Women's Volleyball
After finishing the season an impressive 17-1 in conference play and 23-11 overall, the Lady Wildcats earned a second seed in the PSUAC Championships.
After the team took down No. 3 Penn State Brandywine, 3-1, in the semifinals, Superstorm Sandy hit, forcing the championship match to be canceled. The team earned a co-championship with Penn State Fayette and a berth in the national championship in Canton, N.Y. Tara Powell, Courtney Gernert, Caitlyn Curley and Kelly Hebert each attained a spot on the All-Conference team, with Powell earning a nod as a USCAA All-American.
