Penn College North Campus Holds Practical Nursing Graduation

Thirteen students graduated from the Practical Nursing Program at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s North Campus on Dec. 13.
The students chose Curt Runyan, LPN, as the distinguished speaker for the ceremony. Tracy L. Brundage, assistant vice president for workforce and economic development at Penn College, offered remarks from the main campus in Williamsport. The student speaker was Lorie Bennett.
The Lyle Goodreau award for professionalism and excellence in the nursing clinical area was presented to Bennett by Janie Hilfiger, chief nurse executive at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.
The North Campus Academic Award for outstanding achievement in the classroom was presented to Jennifer Brown by Natalie DeLeonardis, coordinator of the North Campus outreach practical nursing program.
Certificates in practical nursing were presented by DeLeonardis; Debra Day, instructional specialist, presented the pins to the students.
The graduates are: Jessica Barron, Tioga; Lorie Bennett and Nicole Jimenez, Wellsboro; Jennifer Brown and Angel Signor, Williamsport; Amber Girardi, Roaring Branch; Denise Levindoski, Mansfield; Deborah Maciejewski, Columbia Crossroads; Heather Nagy, Middlebury Center; Lisa Russell, Westfield; Rachel Simms, Coudersport; Jeri Smith, Elkland; and Whitney Sunday, Morris Run.
Graduates completed 1,504 clock hours of classroom and clinical instruction, with clinical experiences obtained at Laurel Health System, Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center and other local facilities.
They are eligible to sit for the National Council Examination for licensure as an LPN and may be employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, hospice, schools and other health-care organizations.
Practical nursing classes at the North Campus begin the first week of January each year. The program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
The North Campus is now located in the Wellsboro Area School District Administration Building and the Wellsboro Area Senior High School. For more information about the program, call 570-724-7703.
