A Berks County business that provided an internship for a Penn College horticulture student recently donated 24 trees, including eight topiaries, to the arboretum at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center. The tree donation came from Eaton Farms, Leesport, where Zachary A. Mueller, a landscape/horticulture technology: plant production emphasis major from East Earl, was employed last summer. As instructor Carl J. Bower Jr. left an internship site visit, owner Don Eaton offered to add to the School of Natural Resources Management's collection. In addition to the topiaries, Eaton contributed a mix of evergreen and deciduous ornamentals. “We are so grateful of the ties that we have to industry, and donations like these show the commitment that industry has to our program," said Bower, who added that the topiaries came unsheared so that students’ talents could immediately be put to work manicuring them in lab.
