Tennis: Kemrer ‘Coach of the Year’; Four Wildcats Make PSUAC All-Conference
Wednesday, November 7, 2012
For the first time in his career, tennis head coach Robert Kemrer was named Penn State University Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Kemrer, along with four Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s tennis players, earned spots in the conference end-of-the-year awards. Sophomores Nathan Scott (Canton, Conn) and Adam Smith (Duncannon) and freshmen Jordan Rodgers (Biglerville) and Christopher Morrin (Morrisville) were all named first team, all-conference. All-conference award winners are based on championship finishes while Coach of the Year is voted on by the tennis coaches of the PSUAC.
Kemrer has been at the helm of the tennis team since 2011. In only his second year, he led his team to the PSUAC title. As a player for the program, he helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive championships.
This is Scott’s first time making the all-conference team. He finished the regular season 6-1 at the first singles flight and was runner-up at the championships. A second-time selection, Smith was 6-2 on the year and won the men’s second singles championship.
As rookie members of the team, Rodgers and Morrin stepped up and were dominant in the season, with Rodgers going 7-1 and Morrin 6-1. Both captured PSUAC singles championships, Rodgers for third flight and Morrin for fourth.
