The dean of health sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently completed a doctorate from Trident University International.
Sharon K. Waters received a doctorate in educational leadership in June. Her dissertation was titled “Administrators’ Beliefs/Preferences for Delivering Higher Education Counseling Services and the Relationship Between the Domains of Career and Personal Counseling.”
Waters has been employed by Penn College since 1985 and has been dean of Penn College’s School of Health Sciences since 2007. Previously, she served as director of Counseling, Career and Disability Services and Academic Support Services at the college and was coordinator of the New Options program.
Waters holds a master’s degree in counselor education from The Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
She is a member of the boards of the Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Susquehanna Valley. Waters is also a member of the Commonwealth Medical College Regional Advisory Council and the advisory board for the Northeast/Central Pennsylvania Interprofessional Education Coalition, and she serves on the Community and Rural Health Awareness Task Force.
