Lacy M. Lose Earns SGA 'Student of the Month' Recognition
Thursday, October 11, 2012
Lacy M. Lose, an applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration major from Avis – characterized as a "team player with a truly contagious smile" – has been chosen as the latest Student of the Month by the Student Government Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Lose, a student worker in Penn College's Madigan Library, is a member of the softball team and serves as secretary for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Occupational Therapy Assistant Club.
"Lacy is just one of those people you are immediately drawn to, partly due to her bubbly personality," her chief nominator wrote. "She is always upbeat. Often, her smiling face is the first face you see when entering the Madigan Library and it just adds a lift to your day to see her and have even the briefest of conversations with her.
"She possesses all the qualities to make her an exceptional therapist."
The nomination also included comments from one of the honoree's library co-workers, noting the courtesy and respect that Lose shows others – whether in person, online or on the phone.
"She truly cares about the feelings of others and how her actions may affect (them)," she commented. "Her work ethic and commitment for whatever she may be involved in is very strong. She has volunteered to participate in campuswide events, such as Fall Fiesta and the holiday card-decorating contest, even though she is enrolled in such a demanding program. She is flexible and is always willing to help others whenever or wherever she may be needed within the library. She truly spreads sunshine wherever she may be."
Lose serves as a mentor to the library's new student assistants, helping them adjust to the tasks at hand.
"No job is too menial and everyone is important to her. She has helped with several library displays, providing support and input as needed," the colleague continued. "She keeps a positive attitude, which spreads like wildfire."
The Student of the Month is selected numerous times each academic year based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Nominations from faculty/staff and other students are strongly encouraged.
