Opening Night for the men’s and women’s soccer teams was characterized as a "huge success," with more than 250 students, staff and faculty packing the stands and filling the sidelines. Both games were sponsored by the Student Government Association and Penn College Athletics; there was free food at the men’s game, free ice cream at the women’s game and the sound of Wildcat "thundersticks" in the background. "Couldn’t have been better!" said Lisa J. Worth, coordinator for club sports, intramural sports and marketing for athletics. "Best of all, the weather was beautiful. The day started out raining and didn’t look good, but it all changed and was great for the games." At halftime of the men’s game, fall sports teams were introduced and threw out Athletics T-shirts to the fans. SGA sponsored a fun game during both halftimes – the Frozen T-Shirt/Dizzy Bat Contest, with the winners receiving $25 gift cards to The College Store. "Many thanks to SGA; (intramural assistants) Jeremy Bottorf, Wyatt Decker and Matt Strayer, Dining Services and all the fans that came out and had a great time at the games," added Worth, who noted the men’s team will take on Valley Forge Christian College at 5 p.m. Monday on the Athletic Field.
