The Spring 2012 Athletic Banquet was held Sunday in the Mountain Laurel Room of the Thompson Professional Development Center, honoring Penn College's student-athletes for accomplishments both on the court/field and in the classroom. Scott E. Kennell, athletic director, gave opening remarks, and coaches took to the podium to honor their respective squads. Baseball coach Chris Howard announced that the Wildcats have received a bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament in Illinois, many of the archery team members received multiple honors, and in a first for the college a female and male "Athlete of the Year" were selected: Kierstin G. Steer, a basketball scoring leader and two-time selection to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team, and Derek D.
