Weidman, Westfield, pre-occupational therapy; and Sammera T. Fleming (Culinary Arts attended Saturday's BACCHUS Area 11 Conference at DeSales University in Center Valley.
The daylong event, "Be Who You Are and Be That Well," encouraged more than 150 student and adviser participants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York colleges and universities to take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered at the conference and to create positive change among their peers on campus.
Keynote speakers and breakout sessions covered myriad topics, including tobacco control, sexual health and personal safety issues, promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles, advising skills and issues, alcohol abuse and impaired-driving prevention, and student leadership development.
The Healthy Wildcats represent a coalition of health-conscious students and employees interested in promoting health and wellness at Penn College. Following health-promotion theories and best practices, Healthy Wildcats strives to positively affect student health, engagement, achievement, retention and, ultimately, student success.
The BACCHUS Network is a university- and community-based network focusing on comprehensive health and safety initiatives. It is the mission of this 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization to actively promote student- and young adult-based, campus and communitywide leadership on healthy and safe lifestyle decisions concerning alcohol abuse, tobacco use, illegal drug use, unhealthy sexual practices and other high-risk behaviors.
