Students Train, Compete During Martial Arts Weekend in Virginia
Monday, February 27, 2012
Members of the Martial Arts Club survived a grueling (but successful) collegiate camp over the weekend. Mathew D. Johnson, Cory L. Buckles and Madelyn M. Lanoue made the trip to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., for a two-day training session followed by a tournament. The Penn College students, who trained with collegiate instructors from across the East Coast region, survived the marathon Saturday training sessions and still had enough energy to compete well at Sunday's tournament. Lanoue placed third in the women's kumite (sparring), while Buckles placed third in kata (forms) and first in kumite.
