On March 17, Pennsylvania College of Technology will serve as a host site for the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association's annual Sealant Saturday initiative.
A group of volunteers consisting of local dental hygienists and dentists, as well as Penn College dental hygiene students will provide free oral screenings, sealants, fluoride treatments and education for children ages 7-15 in Penn College's Dental Hygiene Clinic.
Sealants are clear, protective plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to help prevent tooth decay. They will be applied as needed.
Penn College is one of more than 20 Sealant Saturday sites across Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association organizes the event to provide free dental hygiene preventive services to underserved children.
