A leading provider of equipment, controls and services for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and security systems has selected Pennsylvania College of Technology as a beta-testing site for new building automation software.
Johnson Controls Inc. donated equipment and software valued at more than $18,000 to be used in four buildings on the Penn College campus. In addition to the building automation software, Johnson Controls included in the donation network control engines, field equipment controllers and input/output modules.
The software is being tested in the college's Madigan Library, with plans to expand the testing to Bardo Gymnasium and two residence halls York Hall and Lancaster Hall later this year.
"Johnson Controls is proud to be a sponsor to Penn College and its educational programs for the continued benefit and advancement of the students," said Thomas E. Raney, the company's Harrisburg branch manager.
Barry R. Stiger, vice president for institutional advancement at Penn College, said the college is grateful for the partnership with Johnson Controls.
"Their support of our educational programs with technology donations, student internship opportunities and the hiring of our graduates is immeasurable," Stiger said. "This donated equipment and software will keep the control systems in our facilities on the leading edge in energy conservation and management, and we are pleased to be chosen as a testing site."
