Penn College 'Sweethearts' Win Alumni Contest

Jodie and Michael McVan are the winners of the Alumni Relations Office%E2%80%99s 'Sweethearts%E2%80%99 Contest' at Pennsylvania College of Technology.More than 17 years after they first met on campus, a Pennsylvania College of Technology alumni couple will return to the college to celebrate Valentine's weekend, Feb. 11-12.

Jodie and Michael McVan, of Bensalem, have been selected as winners of the Alumni Relations Office's "Sweethearts' Contest." The McVans, married for nearly 10 years, will be treated to dinner and brunch in the college's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant and an overnight stay at the Victorian House on campus.

Students Michael and Jodie in the Campus View Apartments.The Alumni Relations Office recently invited alumni couples to share their love stories as part of its Sweethearts' Contest. The McVans' essay was selected as the winning story and is available for viewing, complete with photos, on the Alumni Relations website .

"We enjoyed reading every single story!" said Becky J. Shaner, alumni relations assistant. "The college has had such a significant impact on the lives of alumni, and this contest was a fun way to learn about it."

The McVans graduated from Penn College in 1998. Jodie, formerly Jodie Gausman, earned a Bachelor of Science in graphic design, and Michael received a Bachelor of Science in business administration. She is director of layout and production at KnowledgePoint 360 in Newtown, and he is national sales manager with JetSolar.

As the college continues its "Countdown to the Centennial," the Alumni Relations Office encourages all alumni to share their stories and memories on the college's Centennial website .

The institution will mark its centennial in 2014 the 100th anniversary of adult-education classes being offered on the site of the college campus in Williamsport.
